Denim Vests. My New Favorite.

Well, I was at the mall the other day looking for new clothes for my trip to California in a couple of weeks. Of course, I wanted to find more trendier pieces since Cali style is so unique and different from Oklahoma. I stumbled upon this adorable jean vest that I fell in love with. I bought it even though it was slightly overpriced. What I love about this vest that I found, is the ombre (where the light blue fades into the white).  But there are so many great and different ways you can wear a good quality jean vest. Expect to see a lot of denim incorporated into the fall trends. Below you will see some of my favorite ways to rock the jean vest:

Meet Alonso Mateo

Would you take style advice from a 5-year-old? Many people seem to be doing just that. Alonso Mateo is a 5-year-old from Laguna Beach, California. He began gaining popularity when his mom, Luisa Fernanda Espinosa, a freelance stylist, began posting pictures of him on her Instagram (@Luisafere).

Alonso rocks tailored suits and designers ranging from Tom Ford to Gucci.

He is just so adorable, it's hard not to fall in love with this sweet little boy. His mom noted that she does help him pick out his outfits in the morning, but he does most of the work. She also said that he doesn't even realize how fashion forward he is and that he gets shy in front of people who recognize him.

He currently has over 55,000 followers on Instagram (@Alonso_mateo), numerous fan accounts, and tons of people who want to be photographed with this precious fashion icon. It's no wonder why he is so loved by many. Take a look for yourself:

TREND: Beanies

Cara Delevingne in Burberry Beanie
Beanies have been around for forever, but be prepared to see them a lot more frequently this fall. Designers such as Burberry, BLTEE, Brunello Cucinelli, Autumn Cashmere and Isabel Marant have come out with their own beanies. I am delighted to have an excuse to not have to do my hair and be able to wear this cute accessory. They add a touch of the west  coast to any outfit and since I am all for California, I love this!!!

Celebrities are constantly being spotted rocking this trend:

TREND: Black & White.

Perhaps one of my favorite new trends is black and white coloring. There's just something refreshing about the simple black and white. It's modern, chic, but not overbearing by any means. Stripes, grids, and polka dots. I just LOVE this new trend and you should be prepared to see even more of this trend this fall.

Style Tip: Add a dash of color to make you really stand out.

New York Fashion Week 2013.

The New York Fashion Week has come to an end, but here are some of my favorite styles from the show:

Betsey Johnson Spring 2014

I have always loved Betsey Johnson's edgy, quirky style and her Spring 2014 line did not disappoint. Her models rocked the runway with their dancing, twirls, and tutus.

I must say, I absolutely loved the show she put on, it's entertainment mixed with fashion and her models kept me watching. I love the bold mixture of looks that Betsey puts together. They're uniquely Betsey and easily recognizable. From head to toe, these models looked fabulous, reminding me exactly why I love this designer so much. Betsey Johnson, herself even came out and did the splits at the end of her show.

Michael Kors Spring 2014
I'm a huge fan of Michael Kors' classic styles and his Spring 2014 line was a mixture of feminine, fresh, soft, and tailored looks.

I love the blend of the leather with the classic, timeless styles; it gives a clean cut and put together look. He uses effortless, elegant pieces with a delicate take on detailing.

Kors nailed it with these simple, elegant styles that are rather refreshing without trying too hard.

I absolutely loved Rachel Zoe's Spring 2014 line. She is mostly known for her seventies glam looks, but she introduced some chic, more tom boy-ish styles. There's no question as to why Zoe is a major player in the fashion game these days.

Sneaker Wedges.

I remember when I first saw these so called sneaker wedges. They're basically a sneaker, that has a hidden 3 inch wedge or so in them. What's the point of having a sneaker, whose main purpose is to be used for physical activity, plus a heel which makes your backside look more flattering? These contradicting shoes should have never been mixed together, in my opinion. They're not dressy enough to wear out for a night on the town and they're not meant for working out or physical activities either. So I ask you my friends, WHAT'S THE POINT?

I never thought these things would catch on, but it seems I can't go anywhere without seeing these sad excuses for footwear. In fact, numerous celebrities are reported to be sporting these sneaker wedges lately.

One thing I know for certain, I won't be caught dead wearing those bad boys.

Please feel free to let me know your opinion on this fad, fashionistas.

CaliVintage

"Festival Style" by CaliVintage
I am a huge fan of vintage and a huge fan of California, this is why CaliVintage really appeals to me. What's really appealing to me is the vast amount of pictures. Fashion is a very visual subject manner and I appreciate that there is not as much writing as other blogs in it's market. I love that this blog gives street fashion advice as well as high fashion advice for ALL body types. It seems that there are tons of blogs for people who are tiny sticks, but CaliVintage does a great job at identifying what's good to wear for your body type.
Another aspect that I love about this blog, is that Erin, the creator, photographs "everyday girls." She takes to the street and different events to snap photos of fashion forward girls. These are real girls in the everyday world. She also shares with us her own outfits that she puts together herself. These are great, inspirational outfits that any girl could put together. That's what I hope to be able to do on my own blog. I hope to be as inspirational to my readers as Erin.
I love that she makes the blog personal. She uses stories from her own life and shares them with readers. It makes the reader actually care about her life and feel like they actually are getting to know her. This makes the blog feel more personal to her readers. In my blog, I am going to strive to let my readers get to know who I really am.
One weakness I see on her blog, is the tiny text that she uses to describe some of her photos. The text is so small, it could be hard for some readers to see. I appreciate her realizing that the photos speak for themselves most of the time, but bigger text would be appreciated. Also, I know vintage can be hard to find and usually one of a kind, but listing some places where her readers would be able to find some of these outfit pieces would be very helpful.
